This week all the ‘Lev la’Mishpacha’ therapists gathered for a staff meeting and fascinating professional training in collaboration with the Child Services department of Israel’s Ministry of Welfare and Social Affairs.
This new Bayit Cham service offers professional treatment regarding the issue of adoption to people who have been adopted, to the adoptive families and to the biological families. The goal is to process the experiences, feelings and thoughts that can sometimes be difficult, if not traumatic. Even when the adoption experience is good, there are often questions and doubts that nest in the heart of the person and his family, such as the issue of identity, opening the adoption file and more. It is necessary to process these emotions and achieve a sense of relief and the ability to deal with the complexities. For the therapists on this journey, there is enormous importance and significance to the success of the process by facilitating in-depth dynamic therapy and dyadic family therapy.
The staff meeting and training session with the Child Services experts dealt with these three aspects of treatment (the adoptee, the biological and the adoptive family), discussed the complexities, challenges and the relevant therapeutic tools. Participants were mesmerized and strengthened as they gained professional expertise.
